  • I am a choreographer, educator, and movement researcher. My practice articulates contemporary dance, somatic education, and artistic investigation by exploring the body as a space for experimentation, creation, and knowledge production.

I develop projects that integrate sensory bodily experience, critical thinking, and artistic practices.

  • I hold a degree in classical ballet from the Royal Academy of Dance College, a master's degree in Arts from the University of São Paulo (USP), a doctorate in Arts from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and two post-doctoral degrees, also from USP and the University of Lisbon.

In my doctoral research, in which I investigated expanded notions of dramaturgy in contemporary dance, I did a residency at Université Paris 8.

Additionally, I specialize in somatic and movement education practices, particularly the Klein Technique®, the Gyrokinesis method, and the Pilates method, integrating them into my artistic, pedagogical, and research practice.

  • I have 40 years of experience teaching dance, during which I have combined education and pedagogy, artistic practices and research, and investigations of movement.

I founded and directed the Gisela Dória Ballet School for over two decades, training dancers and teachers, participated in socio-cultural projects such as Casa de Ensaio, and was a guest professor at the Sitter's School of Dance (Canada). More recently, I served as a Visiting Professor at the Federal University of Bahia.

Currently, I am a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Theatre Studies at the University of Lisbon, I am part of the teaching staff at Fórum Dança in Lisbon, and I teach courses and workshops internationally.

  • Throughout my career, I have established collaborations with companies and institutions in Brazil and around the world, such as the São Paulo City Ballet, Itaú Cultural, Sesc Campo Grande, Fórum Dança (Lisbon), Asociación Andaluza de Profesionales de la Danza (Seville), among others.

These experiences allow me to strengthen the connections I seek to establish between artistic creation, pedagogy, and research.
